A One Day Seminar on “Programmable Logic Controller and Ladder Programming” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Research and Development Cell, PET Engineering College, Vallioor on 10th september, 2016. Workshop was presented by the Resource Person Mr.S.Prem Anand, Shri Guru Educations.

Dr. P. Kannan, Professor & HOD of ECE delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest. Mr. S. Prem Anand addressed the participants and shared the basics and use of Programmable Logic Controller with ladder logic. First he shared common terms with typical PCs like central processing unit, memory, software and communications.

Also he explained the purpose of a PLC to directly replace electro mechanical relays as logic elements, substituting instead a solid-state digital computer with a stored program, able to emulate the interconnection of many relays to perform certain logical tasks. He gave an overview of signal connection and programming standards, programming language designed to resemble ladder logic diagrams.

The Third year students of B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering participated in this workshop. At the end of the session students gave their feedback about the workshop. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. K. Madhan Kumar, Professor of ECE Department.
