The 4th International Conference on recent trends in Mechanical and Civil Engineering was organized by the department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering on 16/02/2019. Prof. P. Jane Angeline, Head of Civil Engineering delivered the welcome address. The Principal, Dr. N. Mohamed Sheriff presided over the function. In his presidential address he stressed on the role of engineers in society. Prof. M. Alwin Joe, Head of Mechanical Engineering introduced the chief guest.

The Chief guest, Dr. P. Parthiban, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli gave the keynote address. In his address, he elucidated on the learning of basic science to become a good engineer and thereby become a good technologist. In the current scenario our country is now progressing towards ‘Industry 4.0’ and every researcher should indulge in integrated learning to achieve that objective. More than 100 delegates from various institutions had submitted their papers. Research scholars, academicians industrialists and students participated in this International Conference.

The conference was based on different themes like Renewable Energy, Alternative fuels, Nuclear Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics in Mechanical Engineering and Alternate materials for construction, Advanced sewage treatment, Earthquake engineering and others in Civil Engineering. The forum served to be a platform for exchange of break-through ideas of eminent researchers. The sessions were chaired by Dr. S. Rajkumar, HOD, Anna University, Regional Campus, TVL and Dr. M. Murugan, Assistant Professor Government College of Engineering, Podinayakkanur, Theni.

The conference proceedings was released by Dr.N.Mohamed Sheriff and the first copy was received by the chief guest, Dr. P. Parthipan. In the valedictory session the Principal, Dr. N. Mohammed Sheriff distributed the certificates to the participants. Mr. Raja Jeyaseelan Assistant Professor of Mechanical department proposed the vote of thanks. The Program was co-ordinated by Mr. M.
