Selection Process

Candidates seeking admission to the 1st Semester of the 8 Semesters B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Programme should have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination of (10+2) Curriculum (Academic Stream) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as 3 of the 4 Subjects of study under Part III or any examination of any other university or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.

Or
Should have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination of Vocational Stream (Vocational Groups in Engineering / Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Or
Should possess the Diploma in Engineering Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other authority accepted by the Syndicate of the University as equivalent thereto.

The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training are also eligible for admission to the 3rd Semester of the B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Programmes through Lateral Entry System.

A Supernumerary Quota of 15% is reserved for foreign nationals / persons of Indian Origin out of which 5% is reserved for children of Indians employed in Gulf Countries. The PET Engineering College is an approved minority institution. According to the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu, minority institutions are allowed to fill 70% of seats as Management Quota as per the guidelines given to such institutions. However, the PET Engineering College has chosen to fill only 50% as Management Quota and the balance has been surrendered to be filled in Single Window System. Lapsed Seats will be treated as Management Quota and selection will be made irrespective of minority status based on the conditions prescribed by Anna University and Government of Tamil Nadu from time to time.
