A one day Symposium was held on 28th February, 2020 at PET Engineering College, Vallioor to celebrate National Science Day. Dr. S. Mookan HOD of Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Madhan Kumar, The Principal of the College delivered the presidential address. The Principal in his address promoted the students to ignite their minds and apply science and engineering for the benefit of mankind. Further, he interspersed his speech with the real time story of a boy affected with dyslexia, who out of his hard work and determination cleared the UPSC examinations. He urged the students to avoid the misuse of technology especially the social media.
Mrs. S. Rema Devi, Asst. Professor English Department introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. Dr. A. R. Savitha, M.A., M.Phil., Ph. D., Assistant Professor, Department of English Sree Ayyappa College for Women, Chunkankadai, was the chief guest for the programme. She presented a guest lecture on the topic "Indian Scientific Heritage and Wisdom". She insisted the students to uphold the pride and culture of our Nation. Also, she emphasized on the theme of this year's science day 'Women in Science'. Also, she asked the students to believe in oneself and work towards fulfilling their goals.
Various competitions like Paper Presentation, Models, Art from Waste and Quiz, Vegetable Carving, Paper Presentation, Ad-Mad were conducted. The chief guest distributed the prizes and certificates to the students who presented the best papers and to the winners of the competitions. Mrs. Bagavathy Lakshmi Ammal, HOD of English department proposed vote of thanks.
