In a collaborative effort between the Department of Civil Engineering, the Innovation and Incubation Centre (IIC), and the E'RACE Civil Engineering Student Association, a thought-provoking seminar on the Science of Environmental Sustainability was organized on 03-04-2024. The event, marked by esteemed speakers and engaged participants, aimed to delve into crucial aspects of environmental preservation and progress. The seminar commenced with a warm welcome extended by Mr. Mohamed Usman T.M, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, setting a tone of anticipation and camaraderie.

Dr. K. Madhan Kumar, Principal, graced the occasion with his presidential address, underlining the paramount importance of environmental sustainability in today's world and commending the initiative taken by the Civil Engineering Department in organizing such a vital event. Dr. S. Adish Kumar, HoD, Civil Engineering at Anna University Regional Campus, Tirunelveli, took the stage as the esteemed resource person, captivating the audience with his keynote address. His profound insights delved into the essence of environmental sustainability, touching upon topics such as the circular economy, zero waste discharge, and the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3Rs). Dr. Adish Kumar also shed light on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a gesture of appreciation, the Principal presented a memento to Dr. Adish Kumar, while Dr. Sokkanathan Govindan, ASP/Civil, as a token of gratitude. Mr. Neel Ananth, a third-year civil engineering student, eloquently introduced the chief guest to the audience, setting the stage for the enlightening discussions that followed. The event commenced with a soulful rendition of Qirath by Mr. S Mohamed Ismail Harith, a second-year civil engineering student, setting a serene ambiance for the proceedings. Mrs. Reshmaraj P V, AP/Civil, and Mr. Mohamed Althaf S, along with Mr. Muthu Elaiya Perumal B, President of the E'RACE Student Association, adeptly moderated the event, ensuring smooth transitions and active participation.

Special recognition is extended to Mr. Ruben Daniel, AP/Civil, and Mr. Rasool Mydeen, LA/Civil, for their commendable efforts in orchestrating the event's logistics and contributing to its resounding success. The seamless coordination of the seminar was made possible by the dedicated efforts of program coordinators Mr. Basheer Ahamed and Mr. Petchimuthu, both AP/Civil. Mr. Petchimuthu, in his heartfelt vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and organizers for their invaluable contributions, concluding the event on a note of appreciation and inspiration.

As the echoes of the seminar linger, the spirit of environmental stewardship continues to resonate, guiding the path towards a more sustainable future.
