A one day Symposium was held on 28th February, 2019 at PET Engineering College, Vallioor to celebrate National Science Day. Prof. S. Mookan HOD of Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr. N. Mohammed Sheriff, The Principal of the College delivered the presidential address. The Principal in his address promoted the students to ignite their minds and apply science and engineering for the benefit of mankind. Further, he urged the students to have an inquisitive mind and think constructively to become respectable engineers in the society.
Mrs. Bagavathy, HOD of English Department introduced the chief guest to the audience. Dr. M. Gunasekaran, Assistant Professor, Physics Dept., Anna University Regional Centre, Tirunelveli was the chief guest for the programme. The Chief Guest commemorated on National Science Day and the inventions of Dr. C. V. Raman. He motivated the students to be passionate towards the studies and touched upon the theme of National Science Day. His talk was peppered with examples from the life of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Various competitions like paper presentation and Quiz were conducted Students from different Colleges attended the programme. The chief guest distributed the prizes and certificates to the students who presented the best papers and to the winners of quiz competition. Ms. J. Reshma Joseph professor of English proposed vote of thanks. Prof. S. Arumugam Pillai, HOD of Physics co-ordinated the programme.
