A one day Symposium was held on 28th February, 2017 at PET Engineering College, Vallioor. A first year Mechanical Engineering student H.S.Raize Mohammed welcomed the gathering. Dr.N.Mohammed Sheriff, The Principal of the College delivered the presidential address. He emphasized that, Science is a gift bestowed on human beings by God and it proves testimony to the multifarious ways in which it is useful to the society. Further, he motivated the students by saying that it is their duty to find time for allied curricular and co-curricular activities by participating in such symposium as it would provide a platform for them to know their strengths and weaknesses and to progress in the right direction. Prof. S.Arumugam Pillai, HOD of Physics Department introduced the chief guest to the audience. Dr.T.V.Sivasubramonia Pillai, Dean, University College of Engineering, Nagercoil was the chief guest for the programme. He instilled in the minds of the students that Science and Engineering are two parallel lines and he stressed that they would be highly benefited if they give importance to basic Science. Further he advised the students to believe in themselves and said that their primary objective is to realize their potentials and to set their journey in that path. Students from different Colleges attended the programme. The chief guest distributed the prizes and certificates to the students who presented the best papers and to the winners of quiz competition. Prof.P.Anvar Kasim, the First Year Coordinator proposed vote of thanks. Prof.S.Mookkan, the Coordinator of IST’17 made necessary arrangements for the programme. |
