The 20th Sports Day was celebrated on 17th March 2018 at PET Engineering College, Vallioor. Dr. N. Mohamed Sheriff, the Principal of the College welcomed the gathering and delivered the presidential address. He said that sports activities enable the students to have equanimity of mind in the ups and downs of their life and to foster their sense of discipline in all aspects. The Principal accepted the salute of the students in the march past.
Mr. S. M. S. Hameed, the Managing Trustee of Popular Educational Trust was the chief guest for the function. He stressed the importance of regular physical exercise and nutritious food items to maintain a strong physique and to lead a healthy life. He further said that it is not advisable to spend too much of time in social networking sites. The Physical Director of the College Mr. A. Joshua Solomon presented the annual report for the year 2017 – 2018.
The students of different Branches were divided into four houses and 18 intramural games and 24 athletic events were conducted for the students. The over – all championship for sports and games was bagged by the Green House. The individual championship for girls was won by P. Shamini, a third year CSE student and S. Stella, a final year CSE student. The individual championship for boys was bagged by C. Samuel Raj, a third year Mechanical Engineering student.
Mr. Y. R. Packiyadhas, Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department proposed vote of thanks.
