Semicondutor Chips in India

Event Report

A one-day seminar was conducted by the department of ECE on “Semiconductor Chips in India”, with the live streaming of Shri. Narendra Modi's address on India’s semi conductor mission and chips for Viksit Bharat. The students watched the Prime Minister opening up three semi conductor projects via video conferencing. The Prime Minister said that this occasion is an important step towards a bright future for India. As per the instruction of the government to create more awareness on the utility of semiconductors Mrs. Joyselin Susila, AP/ECE in her seminar explained the major objective of semiconductor mission which is to produce semiconductor chips in home country rather than importing it from other countries.

She also explained that semiconductor mission has encountered hurdles along the way ranging from infrastructure constraints. She concluded with the prospects of semiconductor mission which has promising future. The Semiconductor Mission plays a crucial role in India’s efforts to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor market, reduce import dependency, and achieve self-reliance in critical technology sectors. It aligns with the government’s broader initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) to promote indigenous manufacturing and innovation across various industries. The arrangements for the seminar made by Dr. J. Binisha Rose, AP/ECE.
